Freedom

Today, July 4th, we reflect upon a special time in the formation of the United States of America. I’m so thankful for the founding fathers of this nation. For their courage, passion, and heart. For their boldness to stand for truth and pursue freedom.

Their sacrifice and bravery moves me, bringing to mind Jesus’ words in John 15:13.

This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:12-13

The willingness of these selfless men and women to set aside their own comforts, to put their lives on the line for freedom, is something for which I am incredibly grateful.

Above all, I am thankful to God for the freedom to worship. We have brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who endure severe persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. Stand strong, my brothers! May the Spirit of God strengthen your hearts and fill you with peace. May His incredible joy overflow within you, and may you experience His mighty signs and wonders!

These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

Mark 16:17-18

Happy Independence Day! May we never take freedom for granted, and thank God for the ultimate gift of freedom made available to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior: freedom from sin and death!
